Summary

The Manager, Software Development will ensure the streamlined operation of the Software Development Group in alignment with the business objectives of the organization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides expert consultation to external customers, internal customers, and the product management team.
  • Ensures the quality of solutions delivered by the software development team.
  • Provides leadership in defining architecture strategy, software development processes, software development standards, tools and technology, methods of integration, etc.
  • Captures and communicates metrics to represent the development team's quality, test coverage, velocity, etc.
  • Maintains a continuous integration platform that covers our full Java code base.
  • Implements and manages adherence to standards for Junit testing of Java classes.
  • Designs, maintains, and utilizes a set of fully functional and adequately complete development and test environments.
  • Meets delivery expectations with respect to the software development projects.
  • Guides the career development of technical professionals with widely varying levels of experience and expertise.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and formal management to the Software Development team including performance management, career development, and work assignment.

Education and/or Experience

  • BS or BA in a related discipline is required, a Masters will be considered favorably.
  • A minimum of 15+ years of overall software development experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years managing the development and architecture of a commercial, hosted, complex software product.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience implementing development projects and architectural and process improvements utilizing agile methodology.
  • Multiple successful implementations of continuous integration processes.
  • Multiple successful deliveries of customer-facing web-based applications.
  • Successful experience implementing and/or utilizing multiple open source tools such as RDBMS, source control, Java frameworks, continuous integration servers, etc.

 

Computer Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with each of the following: Java, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Apache, Tomcat, relational databases (MySQL and others), source control systems, continuous integration systems, unit testing frameworks, automated regression testing frameworks.
